Wondering how you can help your local Foodbank this year? Why not join our Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge! Download the calendar above, grab a box & collect items with your friends and family. Donate to the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank before 22nd December. Thank you for your support!
A big thank you to everyone who has signed up to help with our Winter Supermarket Collection this week. We will have a team of volunteers helping collect food at Tesco in Brixton and Streatham on Thursday, 29th  and Friday, 30th of November and also on Saturday, 1st December. Do pop down and support them if you can – every item donated will help those in crisis over the winter period

On Saturday, 22nd December Foodbank volunteers will gather at St Luke’s church in West Norwood for our epic Christmas hamper handout. Our clients will receive a special festive Foodbank package that includes fresh fruit and veg, chocolate treats, mince pies and Christmas puddings in addition to standard Foodbank items.
While clients wait for the food to be prepared, face painting, pampering and a free film screening will take place at the neighbouring South London Theatre. Last year we distributed over 200 hampers, feeding more than 700 people. If you are interested in helping we still have vacancies for specific roles.
Please email [email protected] for more details.

We are excited to announce that our Norwood branch will be launching a new one to one budgeting service from December. Managing household bills or monthly universal credit  payments no longer need to be such  daunting tasks. Clients can just turn up or book an appointment in advance via email.

Our half-year figures indicate another increase in the number of people using our Foodbank. Read how the introduction of Universal Credit has played its part in an article from the South London Press, featuring the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank.

Do you have a stash of lego at home that is no longer needed? We are looking for donations of lego to help entertain children on Saturday, 22nd December as they wait with their families for their hampers to be prepared. If you think you can help please email [email protected].

A huge thank you to everyone who donated as part of the Co-op Community fund. Through the scheme Co-op channels 1% of members spending on own-branded products to local projects that those individuals care about. This has resulted in Co-op members raising over £8,000 for our Foodbank! This is an incredible total figure and we are so grateful to our local supporters for nominating us.

We are always keen to provide the best possible service for our clients and so we often refer them to Christians Against Poverty if they have additional needs. CAP services in Lambeth include a debt counselling service, a job club and money courses (for budgeting).

As the temperature drops we want to ensure our clients are well provided for. That is why we are gratefully receiving new hot water bottles (with covers) to help keep clients warm at night.
Another request is for donations of shopping trolley bags which are a huge help for clients who can sometimes struggle to carry heavier items of food home. If you are able to help with either item please drop them off to our Streatham warehouse on a Saturday between 9-11am.

It’s now easier than ever to donate food items to Foodbank if you live in Tulse Hill, West Norwood or Herne Hill. There’s a new permanent drop box in the Co-op in Tulse Hill and there will be pop-up drop boxes in the Sainsbury’s in West Norwood and Herne Hill in the run up to Christmas.

We are requesting donations of reusable canvas bags to help us pack our clients’ food parcels. Not only are these stronger than the plastic bags but they are also environmentally friendly and can be returned by our clients should they need to use our service again in the future.

A big thank you to our amazing volunteers and all who bought some of our tasty treats at our stall at the Love West Dulwich Christmas Fair. In total £550 was raised for our Foodbank to help us provide additional items for Christmas. Thank you!

We are short of these foods in November. If you could purchase any of the above mentioned items, we would be very grateful.
