November Newsletter

10th November 2019

As we continue to expand our Foodbank services the need for volunteers is always growing. The launch of our new South London warehouse has created a number of new volunteering opportunities during the week from Tuesday to Friday between 10am-3pm. The role involves processing our donations, sorting shelves and organising our deliveries. We also have a need for drivers with a clean driving licence and who are confident driving around London. If you think you can help in any of these ways please fill in our online volunteer application form.
Wondering how you can help your local Foodbank this Christmas? Why not join our Reverse Advent Calendar Challenge! Download the calendar from the image above, grab a box & collect items with your friends and family. Donate to the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank before 20th December so that we can distribute to our guests at our big Christmas hamper give-away the following day (it does mean finishing the calandar a few days early). Thank you for your support!
Streatham Senior Connections will be offering Christmas present hampers again this year and would like to appeal for new toy donations. If you are able to help, donations should go to our Streatham warehouse at St Margaret’s church, Barcombe Avenue in bags clearly labelled ‘Christmas toys’ and be delivered before 1st December. Small toys such as top trumps, construction toys, small games and balls are perfect. No toys with batteries please. Streatham Seniors will host a Christmas party with games, Father Christmas, party food and activites before presenting the hampers full of toys to guests.
The Wandsworth, Waterloon and Norwood and Brixton Foodbanks would love you to join them for the launch of the South London Warehouse! It will be held on Wednesday, 13th November from 2.30pm-4.30pm at St Margaret the Queen Church, Barcome Avenue. Afternoon tea will be served as part of the event. Please RSVP by email to [email protected]. Click on the image above to download our invitation.
We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to us over the harvest period, we really were touched by your generosity. We also wanted to further extend our thanks to all our supporters who continue to give so generously. We are very grateful.
As the temperature drops we want to ensure our clients are well provided for. That is why we are gratefully receiving new hot water bottles (with covers) to help keep clients warm at night. If you are able to help please drop them off to our Streatham warehouse from Tuesday to Friday between 10am-3pm and on a Saturday between 9-11am.
Over the years we have had many Foodbank cake stalls at the Love West Dulwich Christmas Fair on Rosendale Road, all of which have proven hugely popular. On Saturday, 30th November we have another opportunity to raise money for Foodbank and we re looking for volunteers to help bake or volunteer on the day. To register an interest please contact Susan at [email protected].
We have three distribution points across the Borough of Lambeth with different opening times for each. Click on the above image for more information regarding our food distribution points.
Our  annual Tesco supermarket collection will be on Thursday, 21st, Friday, 22nd and Saturday, 23rd November. As usual it will take place at the Streatham and Brixton stores where they will generously add an additional 20% to the total amount collected. This is a great opportunity to help us without having to make a regular commitment. We’d especially love corporate teams to volunteer in groups of four to five for three hour slots. For corporate teams please can you email [email protected] or if you would like to sign up for the Saturday slot please click on the buttons below.

Our shelves don’t always look as full as this; in fact, there are always a few items that we are especially low on. Click on the above image to view the products which are in short supply.
