International Women’s day 8th March 2021 so a massive shout out to all the amazing women on our team!

8th March 2021

As it’s International Women’s Day on Monday 8th March, we would like to give a massive shout out to all the wonderful women at Norwood and Brixton foodbank who have done incredible work over the last year. Here’s just a few anecdotes:

The team of mostly women who cleared out a van of donations including rotten chicken!
Female Volunteers who turned up every day for weeks on end to ensure we could deliver in the early days of lockdown.
Vic Boyce and Sue Fish who have tirelessly manned the referrals inbox, ensuring there are volunteers on the app ready to pack each day.
Female Drivers who battle quiet zones, difficult conversations and the recent snow to ensure packages get delivered.
Pauline and Alison who never waivered in their commitment.
Kath who despite probably being too old to volunteer (I suspect) has packed every week since beginning or made calls or just been there as she needed to do something.
Liz Urben who packed all the Christmas cards and stars up for Christmas over 1,000 parcels and has been doing signposting calls since June.
Helen Fletcher, Torla, Rachel faithfully making calls to clients to ensure we pack parcels suitable for them.
Mona struggling on despite long covid and before covid giving so much of her time whilst home schooling too.
Amanda herself, driving all over place to pick up supplies, making deliveries and just being amazing right hand woman.
Thank you Thank you Thank you
