September Newsletter

6th November 2016

Dear Foodbank supporter,

Thank you all for your generous donations throughout September. We have already received over one tonne of food this month. Despite this, shelves remain empty and harvest is a key time for us to replenish. If your organisation, business, church, school or community would be willing to help with a foodbank harvest appeal, please email [email protected]  or donate here

Many thanks and have a fantastic weekend.

Five years feeding the hungry
Next week marks the fifth anniversary since the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank opened it’s doors. In this time we have fed over 20,000 people in crisis. It’s not just about the stats though, it’s also about relationships. Here is a short story from one of our team..”Last week, a little girl bounded into Norwood having demanded of her mum that they go to church to see Lisbet (best she can call me). It was lovely to see Hannah who proceeded to tell me she was now in year R and had to wear her smart white T shirt to go to school. She is such a lovely, bubbly girl for who, the Foodbank was a lifeline.

When Hannah first appeared she was 4 months old, listless, floppy and struggling to engage with anything going on around her. Mum had no food and had been unable to breastfeed her properly. We supported mum with plenty food and some baby basics as she tried to improve her income. Hannah was well provided for.

Seeing Hannah thrive because her mum was directed to us when she was in crisis is a joyful reminder of how serving the community for the last five years has transformed lives”.
