July 2021 Newsletter

12th July 2021

This month there is a further appeal for volunteer help at either of our Tesco collections at Brixton and Streatham on the 15th, 16th and 17th July. Links to the rota are contained within the item so it’s very easy to sign up. We just ask for a 2 hour minimum commitment. These collections are hugely important to us to help keep our stock flow at good levels. There is also an item about the lovely produce we have received from the Kew Gardens community garden and Kew Gardens kitchen garden. To download the link click here.

Collections will be held on Thursday, 15th July, Friday, 16th July and Saturday, 17th July in Streatham and Brixton.

“People worry that food bank volunteers might judge you but no one ever does. Everyone has always been so caring. It’s not just about being given food, they always ask if you need support with anything else too, like housing, so they can refer you”, says Naomi, a young mother of two children. Read Naomi’s full interview in this recent article published by #togetherband.
Have you heard the new single ‘Waiting for the Sun’ from Little Moscow? It’s a huge hit! All proceeds from sales will go to the Trussell Trust and help food banks across the country support their communities. Please head over to the Little Moscow Shop to help support the campaign for a hunger free future.
We want to say a massive thank you to Helen and Jane from the Kew Gardens Community Garden for an influx of freshly grown produce. As well as organic lettuce, pak choi, chard, kale and spring onions they have also been growing 800 basil plants to be distributed between eight London food banks.
