NEWS AND UPDATES

Lambeth Foodbanks now have three fully functional hubs running across the borough (In West Dulwich, Vauxhall and Waterloo). The hubs provide an opportunity for clients to pick up their food parcel in person and also access a wide range of support services. Our West Dulwich hub has expanded support services to include a fortnightly visit from the ‘Health and Wellbeing Express’, an opportunity to get the Covid-19 vaccination or some mental health support. Other services offered include employment support, sign-posting assistance, form filling, benefit advice from Centre 70 and freshly cooked meals! For more information on the opening times and locations of the Lambeth Foodbank hubs click here: West DulwichVauxhallWaterloo.
This winter our sign-posting team have been focusing on helping Foodbank clients access Lambeth’s Household Support Scheme. The scheme offers eligible residents high street vouchers, food vouchers, fuel payments, second-hand furniture and refurbished white goods. In January, we helped 21 clients access a combined total of £2,165. Our sign-posting officer Fred Poll said: “The award can alleviate the pressure on struggling households by providing fuel and food vouchers. The good news is that clients can reapply every two weeks. The bad news is that the scheme will finish at the end of March.” Applications for the Lambeth Household Support Scheme can also be made without the help of our sign-posting team. We have a wide range of volunteer roles available, with new opportunities being added regularly. Roles range from dietary caller to warehouse assistant, to driver and parcel packing.
