We often hear people say that they wish they could donate their winter fuel allowance or energy rebate payment to help local people and families in greater need. Now you can, through our new Warmer Winter campaign!

“With the prices for gas and electricity going up, it’s a worry. I think do I spend on food or on electric? When I get home I make myself a hot cup of tea, and I sit under a woolly blanket to keep warm.”

Our clients are often forced to make a choice between buying food or heating their home, and by donating through our Warmer Winter campaign we can help provide food to those that are struggling so that they can eat AND heat as much as possible this winter.

Visit our website or click directly on our just giving campaign to find out how you can use your winter fuel allowance to make a difference this winter.

We’ve registered with AmazonSmile to create an easy way for you to support our Foodbank while you do your online shop! Simply click on AmazonSmile and select Norwood and Brixton Foodbank as your chosen charity. Then, when you go to make your next Amazon purchase, AmazonSmile will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price to our Foodbank. For more information about how AmazonSmile works click here.
While on the Amazon theme, we have created an Amazon Wish List full of practical items such as hot water bottles and warm blankets, that we would love our supporters to purchase for our clients. Once you have chosen an item and gone to the checkout, you then select ‘Elizabeth Maytom’s Gift Registry Address’ as the delivery address. Once received at our warehouse, they will be added to food parcels to help provide some respite this Autumn as the cold sets in and energy prices rise. Perhaps you can make a donation through AmazonSmile at the same time!
A big thank you to all the schools, churches and community organisations that have begun collecting and donating items for Harvest. We’ve really enjoyed meeting some of you and taking school assemblies (picture of a recent assembly at Immanuel and St Andrew CE Primary School above). For those who still want to organise autumn harvest collections, we can supply a range of posters and fliers to support your collections. Please email [email protected] with your group name, collection date and when you plan to deliver your food. To watch The Trussell Trust’s Harvest video click here.
We have several volunteering opportunities available at the moment, with new opportunities being added regularly. Please click here to view them, searching for postcode SW16 to find roles linked to our Foodbank. Roles that are not currently advertised include someone to help write this newsletter (Mailchimp experience helpful) and someone to co-ordinate our biannual supermarket collections. If you would like to find out more about either of these roles, please contact us at [email protected]. Come and be part of our passionate team of volunteers and help battle poverty in our borough.
Please note that our next supermarket collections in Brixton and Streatham will be taking place on Wednesday, 1st, Thursday, 2nd and Friday, 3rd December 2022. If you have a corporate volunteering day or are free during the day, we would love your help to encourage Tesco customers to donate to our food bank. Please sign up for a two hour slot here.
Each and every donation we receive makes a powerful difference to people in need across our community. Visit our website to discover how you can make a gift today.

You can also use our Text to Donate 📱 service to make a quick and easy donation. Simply text ‘DINNER 5’ to give £5, ‘DINNER 10’ for £10, or ‘DINNER’ followed by the amount of your choice to 70085.

Please see our most urgently needed items above and click here to see the list in full. You can also donate using the Bankuet delivery service. We couldn’t support people in crisis without your generosity. Thank you!
