Harvest Donations

11th October 2022

All at Norwood and Brixton Foodbank would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the schools, churches and community organisations that have begun collecting and donating items for harvest. We’ve really enjoyed meeting some of you and taking school assemblies.

Harvest is traditionally a time of year when local communities held a festival of thanksgiving, celebrating the harvest and food grown on the land. More recently it is a time when schools, churches and other community groups come together with generous hearts to donate food and other essential items to people facing hunger and poverty in their local community.

For those who still want to organise autumn harvest collections, we can supply a range of posters and fliers to support your collections. Please email [email protected] with your group name, collection date and when you plan to deliver your food.

To mark the changing of the seasons and to call people to donate this harvest, there’s a new video from the Trussell Trust that highlights the roles that churches have in our communities.

“Churches are vital to the work of foodbanks. They open up their buildings, donate food, provide volunteers and leaders, and show amazing care and compassion to people”
